Life at the Monastery Blog

Sister Janet's Blog

This stage lasts at least one year and requires moving into the monastery, sharing the prayer, work, and leisure of the community. The Postulant takes classes in Scripture and Benedictine spirituality and practice.

At a simple ceremony in the Community Room, the Affiliate surrounded by the entire community claims her desire to "seek God with this community."  She is then presented with The Liturgy of the Hours books, On the Way, the history of the  sisters of St. Gertrude and The Life of Saint Benedict as told in the Dialogues of St. Gregory the Great.
