Prayer for Peace

O God of Peace and Justice,

We beseech you to bless those entrusted with charting peace for the Middle East and its people.

Grant them the patience, understanding, vision and courage needed for this formidable challenge.

Entrust them with full awareness of their great task and of the fearful consequences should peace elude their efforts.

Help these Muslim, Jewish and Christian peacemakers to transcend the strictures of their histories and their experiences of pain and oppression.

Infuse in them your spirit so they may understand that ultimately, no one people will prosper until peace with justice is secured for all peoples in the Middle East.

At the same time, sustain us to draw upon the moving power of your Spirit to calm waters churning with generations of conflict.

Guide us as we give shape to a new vision in which all peoples of our one Creator will find reconciliation and wholeness.

Strengthen our resolve to act in support of our nations' leaders to forge in the Middle East a full and lasting peace for both the children of Israel and the Palestinian people.

Enable those leaders to bring about a Peace in Jerusalem as a light to all the nations and peoples of the world.

To this we say:  Salaam, Shalom, Peace. Amen.

Prayer for Peace (II)

O God, you are the source of life and peace.
Praised be your name forever.
We know it is you who turn our minds to thoughts of peace.
Hear our prayer in this time of war.

Your power changes hearts.

  • Muslims, Christians, and Jews remember, and profoundly affirm,

  • that they are followers of the one God,
    children of Abraham, brothers and sisters;

  • enemies begin to speak to one another;

  • those who were estranged join hands in friendship;

  • nations seek the way of peace together.

Strengthen our resolve to give witness to these truths bye the way we life.

Give to us:

  • Understanding that puts an end to strife;

  • Mercy that quenches hatred,

  • and forgiveness that over comes vengeance.

Empower all people to live in your law of love.
Amen.

Prayer for Peace (III)

O God, help us to lead our world in the ways of justice and peace./p>

Help us to be at peace with ourselves, our families, friends and neighbors.

May peace, rather than conflict, arise from our hearts wherever we go.

Help us to be active peacemakers--to bring peace into the world by whatever means we are able.

Help us to look for solutions in the smallest and the largest situations.

Direct us by your Spirit, that both our words and our actions may help our world be renewed in peace.
Amen

Prayer for Peace (IV)

O God, grant our world your peace.

Hear our voice:

It is the voice of the victims of all wars and violence.

It is the voice of all children who suffer when we put our faith in weapons and war.

We speak for those in every country who do not want war and are ready to walk the road of peace.

O God, send us your Holy Spirit.

Instill into the hearts of all people the wisdom of peace, the strength of justice, and the
    joy of unity,
so we may respond to hatred with courage and love,
to injustice with dedication to truth
to suffering by compassionately sharing ourselves,
to war with the nonviolence of Jesus,
who brings hope and peace.

O God, hear our voice and grant our world Your peace.
Amen

Prayer for Peace (V)

O God, All-holy one,
You are our Mother and our Father, and we are your children.
Help us to know that You have created all people as members of the same family.

Fill us with courage and strength to work for lasting peace, and with the compassion to desire peace for all who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Recognizing our weakness, we call on You, God of mercy, to guide world leaders and each of us.

May we be filled with the vision of Your peace.

And may we know war no more, as we strive to be what You want us to be:  your children.
Amen.
