Why Transform?

Every stage of life is full of change.  From the moment of birth, through childhood, adulthood and death, change is the only constant.  Successfully negotiating life's changes consciously, wholly and in good physical, spiritual and mental health defines quality of life.

Transforming Experiences Seminars and Retreats offers participants tools to help change, make transitions and transform life, with special and particular emphasis on a positive plan for lifelong adult learning.  The seminars teach a variety of skills which can help people enjoy increased mental, emotional and spiritual wellness, holistically, regardless of age or developmental stage.

Easily tailored to meet your time and space requirements Transforming Experiences Retreats and Seminars blend theory and "bookwork" with exciting and practical exercises in a group setting.

All of the Transforming Experiences Retreats and Seminars have been developed for both secular and religious audiences and are appropriate for:

From Aging to Sage-ing®

Do you want to live life longer with vitality, or die longer?

This seminar introduces a new field of work that encourages a conscious approach to aging.  The deep inner work helps participants reclaim the role of elder (not elderly) in our society and redefines what it means to age.  

Structured as a series of mini-workshops to take all at once, or in stages, this seminar explores:

Maturity 101

Effective ministry with maturing adults

Prepare for the "Aging of America."  This seminar is intended as a course where attendees will learn how to set up a positive plan for lifelong adult learning.

Along with learning the seven basic steps to constructing a plan for adult learning, topics include:

  • fundamental emotional needs of mature adults

  • common emotional reactions to loss

  • conducting a "Faith Life Review"

  • goals of a spiritually helpful relationship

Upon completion, participants will be equipped to train others in their organizations on developing, implementing and managing programs to enhance lifelong spiritual learning.

Explore the vital connection between body, mind and spirit

Participants discover "God's Thumbprint" on their lives by identifying their major virtues and learning how to formulate a plan for implementing them.

Participants will also meet the challenging aspects of the virtues and learn strategies to offset the effect on physical, mental and spiritual health and growth.

Discovering Personal Motivations

Exploring personal growth issues

Participants explore their human motivations and find out why they act and react the way they do to life situations. 

The first part of the seminar is spent describing the nine personality styles and discovering the one which best describes you.  Once you discern your type, the Enneagram model becomes a tool for your personal transformation process which will lead you to a more productive and mindful life.

  • Unravel relationship difficulties

Sister Barbara Jean GlodowskiBarbara Jean Glodowski, OSB, MEd, PCSG, is a Benedictine Sister of the Monastery of St. Gertrude in Cottonwood, ID, and is the director of Transforming Experiences and Spirit Center.  She is a certified Spiritual Director and holds Professional Certification in Spiritual Gerontology from the Johnson Institute.

Sister Barbara Jean is one of three certified Sage-ing™ Seminar Leaders in the Pacific Northwest and is a certified Hurley/Dodson Advanced Enneagram Teacher. Involved in all aspects of education, Sister Barbara Jean was listed in the "Who's Who In Education" in 1989.  She received the Partin Award for Excellence in Senior Adult Ministry from the National Association for Senior Adult Ministry (ASAM) in 2000. She has also made key-note addresses at a variety of national conventions.
