A
Single Tree...

...Joined with many others...

...creates a
living forest.

In 1993 we, the Benedictine Sisters of the
Monastery of St. Gertrude,
began to carefully and intensively manage the 1,000 acres
of forest lands entrusted to our care.
Our efforts were recently recognized by the
State of Idaho which named the
Monastery the state's Tree
Farmer of the Year.
We are creating a healthy, productive
forest through efforts such as:
selective thinning
planting tree varieties best suited to the
land
creating wildlife
habitat
practicing sound stewardship of the earth's
resources

Our forest lands are strategically located
within the Columbia River watershed.
Your participation in our reforestation
efforts will affect every person
living downriver from Cottonwood, ID, to the Pacific Ocean.
Planting a forest is a "good"
thing to do. As a long-term commitment,
we believe this forest will contribute to
oxygen for our Earth
ecological balance in the Columbia River
watershed
renewable products for our economy
beauty

We will plant 60,000 tree seedlings over
the next two years.
This effort will result in 200 acres of fledgling forest on Cottonwood Butte.
We invite you to participate in creating a
healthy future and earth
by selecting one of the following donation options:
$150
Plant an acre of forest, or 300 trees.
$75
Plant 1/2 acre of forest, or 150 trees.
$37.50
Plant 1/4 acre of forest, or 75 trees.
Plant any number of trees for 50¢
each.
Contribute an acre or more of seedlings as
a living memorial
to the unforgettable people in your life.

Honor a special person for a birthday,
anniversary,
graduation or other significant occasion.
For each 1/2 acre of
seedlings you donate, we will send the designee
of your choice a card, handcrafted by the sisters, which
acknowledges your generous, living and lasting gift.
The name of your loved one remembered
through a
memorial donation will be recorded in the Book of Memory
permanently displayed in the Monastery Chapel.

As the winter-rested earth awakens to the
promise of spring,
please join us. Your contribution, combined with many others,
will turn a tree into a forest. Help grow a healthy future.
Grow a future for yourself, your family and your Earth
by joining us in creating a healthy forest.
