The extended sanctuary area is framed by
segments of the
original communion rail which once separated the sanctuary from the body of
the chapel. This space with its blue chairs is where the monastic community
gathers to celebrate the Eucharist. |

Toward the
back of the chapel, looking up at the ceiling you can see through the ornate
ceiling vents into the attic area of the monastery. The 12 emblems of the
Apostles Creed and the other ceiling decorations were painted in 1947 by
Alex Linenberger and Associates from Hays, KS. |

Beautiful wooden choir stalls fill the body of the
chapel. The sisters gather here morning and evening to pray the Liturgy of
the Hours. The practice of this form of praying the Psalms, listening to
Scripture and interceding for the church and world, is key to
Benedictine spirituality. Guests and retreatants are welcome to join
the community during their times of prayer. |

Above the choir loft is a portrait entitled "21st
Century Madonna," painted by a local Cottonwood artist as a memorial to his
first wife. |

The 14
Stations of the Cross circle the chapel, the beautiful statues are
intended to help individuals come to an awareness of the events of Jesus'
passion and death. |
