Capitol Christmas
Tree Blessing

O Tree from the heart of Idaho, may you bring love to the heart of our nation's home.

Your branches are green as life; your needles, soft as compassion; your trunk, strong as love.

We send you to stand in beauty as our nation's Christmas Tree.

O Maker of Trees, as your blessings reside in this Englemann Spruce, so may our nation share in your abundance.

As this tree drew life from the depths of the earth and renewed the atmosphere, so may our nation, rooted firmly in our heritage, refresh our world with hope and peace.

As this tree extended its branches to shelter the forest creatures with compassion, so may our nation shelter with compassion all who seek refuge in her arms.

As this tree is wrapped in lights and bathed in music, so may our nation radiate Christmas love and joy to all of earth's peoples.

Amen. Amen
