Become a Sister
at the
Monastery of St. Gertrude
Do you seek a place of ministry to put down
roots and grow into a spiritual woman after God's own heart? Are
you looking for spiritually like-minded women to support and
challenge you? Do you want your life to be an example of
how to live a monastic life in unity with others?
We are looking for Catholic women who
- pray
- feel a spiritual calling into God's service
- are searching for stability within a
monastic way of life
- hunger for the word of God
Our Benedictine Sisters are called to respond to the needs of the world
through:
Prayer. We
gather daily to pray the Liturgy of the Hours and celebrate the
Eucharist. We practice individual prayer, reflective reading and
spiritual contemplation. Prayer is central to our lives and is the base for which
our ministries emerge.
Healing Hospitality.
Wherever we are we create an environment based on Christian values that is welcoming, challenging
and inclusive.
Grateful Simplicity.
We steward our resources so that they bear fruit for the service of
others. We attempt to leave as small a footprint as possible on God's
earth.
Creative Peacemaking.
We work in ways that promote peace and justice. We reach out in direct
monastic service and promote systemic change.
Are you:
- Catholic for at least two years and have
completed the sacraments?
- Between the ages 20 and 60?
- Single or divorced with an annulment and no
dependents?
- In good physical and emotional health?
- A U.S. citizen or lawful permanent
resident?
