Sr. Alfreda’s two-part work is considered the
authoritative history of early Idaho County.
In Volume I, the author seeks to discover the origin
of place names in the county through historic and geographic
associations and to establish a complete history of its settlements
through primary sources.
In Volume II, she describes the history and the
geographical features of the area including the accounts of travels into
the interior and the settlement of this vast region.
Sr. Alfreda was an educator, author and scholar and
was the foundress of the Historical Museum at St. Gertrude.
