Feast of St. Hildegard FREE concert; Monastery Chapel, 2:30 PM. Honoring: St. Hildegard of Bingen, Abbess, musician, artist, herbalist, educator and Mother Hildegard Vogler, Foundress of St. Gertrude’s in Cottonwood 100 years ago. Featuring: Carletta Allen of Cottonwood, violinist, accompanied by Sister Cecile Marie Uhlorn, organist; Kathryn Radakovich of Lewiston, vocalist, accompanied by Sr. Cecile Marie Uhlorn; and The Jellybeans of Pullman/Moscow, an a capella choral group.

Historical Museum’s Fall Lecture Series, “C.E.S. Wood and the Nez Perce”; Spirit Center, 7:00 PM. Laurence Cotton, co-producer of this new documentary film, will present the film and discuss the deep impact the Nez Perce War had on Wood’s life and his multifaceted career, as well as on regional, national, and Nez Perce tribal history. The film also details the friendship that developed between Wood and Chief Joseph.

Historical Museum’s Fall Lecture Series, “All the News That’s Fit to Sing: Scandals, Politics & Slander in Song”; Spirit Center, 7:00 PM. Bill Rossiter performs “musical oral history”. Few of the songs are polished, but many are hilarious, and they have guts and directness that make up for what they lack in finesse. Courtesy of Idaho Humanities Council.

Historical Museum’s Fall Lecture Series, “Celebrating 100 Years ‘at Home’ in Idaho”; Spirit Center, 7:00 PM. Sister Janet Marie Barnard, OSB, tells the history of the Sisters of the Monastery of St. Gertrude. Rare historic photos enhance the lecture.

Historical Museum’s Fall Lecture Series, “Steaming on the River”, Spirit Center, 7:00 PM. Carole Simon Smolinski will discuss the history of steamboats on the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. Historic period photographs included.

Monastery History Series. Beginning of 3-4 minute readings from Monastery’s history. Readings will occur during the Noon meal, daily in the Refectory until the Grand Finale on August 16, 2009.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, focused on biblical Jubilee themes.


February 22, 2009
Feast of Sts. Benedict and Scholastica FREE concert; Monastery Chapel, 2:30 PM. Honoring: future members of St. Gertrude's.


April 26, 2009
Official date of St. Gertrude’s being named the Motherhouse of the Benedictine Sisters. Special “Thank You” celebration for the people of the Camas Prairie.


July 11, 2009
50th anniversary of Monastic Profession for Sisters Mary Kay Henry, Mary Geis, and Cecile Marie Uhlorn; Monastery Chapel, 1:30 PM.


July 29, 2009
Pilgrimage to Uniontown and Colton to celebrate roots there and to mark the transfer of the Motherhouse to Cottonwood.

17th Annual Raspberry Festival.
