Growing a Future
Rooted in Hope
Support Our
Mission
About
the Campaign
We successfully
completed our Growing a Future Rooted in Hope Capital Campaign in
September 2009. The campaign raised money for building
Spirit Center
– a $3.4 million 21,800 square foot conference and retreat facility; a
$2 million renovation of the historic monastery building; and $1.5
million in endowments for our
Spirituality Ministry
and the
Historical Museum at St. Gertrude.
Our 61 member community
financed $1.9 million of the $6.9 million dollar project and raised $5
million through the capital campaign.
Celebrating Success
Here at St. Gertrude’s we
are singing Thank You five million times for your
heartfelt gift which helped us reach the $5,000,000 goal
of our Growing a Future Rooted in Hope Capital
Campaign! Your generosity positions us to begin our
second century in Idaho with renewed vitality.
Three long-lasting
signs of your generosity include: increased
participation of guests (2,500 people FY 2009) enriching
their lives and work through programs at our beautiful
and vital
Spirit Center; an updated monastery conducive
to 21st century lives of prayer and ministry and to
welcoming new members; and the initial endowments
established for our
Spirituality Ministry and the
Historical Museum at St. Gertrude. Best of all, we begin
our new century with so many of you friends saying you
feel enlivened by your association with St. Gertrude’s,
and in turn you encourage and challenge us to persevere
in our Benedictine vocation to prayer that moves us to
active ministry. Thank you for being at the heart of
Growing a Future Rooted in Hope.
“The spirit of the Lord has been given to me, for the
spirit has anointed me.
The spirit of the Lord has sent
me to bring the good news to the poor,
to proclaim
liberty to captives and to the blind new sight, to set
the
downtrodden free, to proclaim the Lord’s year of
favor.”
~ Luke 4:18
Looking to the Future
Is there life after a capital campaign? YES! And it’s exciting to begin
implementing a five-year plan to sustain that life. Our plan is rooted
in the hope that you will continue to feel supported in your own values
by your connections with the monastery through prayer, programs,
volunteering and financial support of our community.

“Our
involvement with the Monastery of St. Gertrude
lies our strong belief that the sisters' stated missions
help society at large with core spiritual and
environmental values. Their accomplishments
during the past hundred years reflect those
strengths. The Sisters have a mission statement
for the future and a plan for how to implement
it. Their five year Capital Campaign Program is
nearing a successful end, thanks to you. Your
continued prayers and gifts will help the
Sisters accomplish their missions.”

“For us, St.
Gertrude’s provides a peace and hospitality that
help us center ourselves in the Spirit and focus
on our core life values. Together our gifts can
expand the sisters’ horizons and enable them to
bring spiritual healing to the world. We urge
you to join us in making a generous gift toward
their mission through this campaign. “

“We contribute to St. Gertrude’s because it
helps us do more of the spiritual and outreach
work we wish we could do personally. The
monastery, museum and Spirit Center provide many
spiritual, cultural and educational
opportunities on the prairie, and the sisters
are active volunteers in the Camas Prairie
communities.”
